A simple paper clip dispenser... most companies have them. But when did I get one?

When I was a kid I'd end up in a few office buildings with my parents. I tended to mess with things whenever I got the chance. One of the most common things was being told not to play with this exact office implement.

I realized as I picked up my own paper clip dispenser, and repeatedly opened and closed it while working, that suddenly no one would scold me for playing with the things on my desk. Because now it's my desk. I'm an adult which apparently means, despite the comic books and imagination, I'm mature enough to decide what that means.
