Description
This is a double RTG version of the ice miner. Its sent to an ice field to get hydrogen and hall it back to an equatorial mars base. It has two Radio isotope powered thermal generators, a back up fuel cell, a dismountable robot repair unit. The tracked chassis requires more maintenance than a wheeled system but can handle harsher terrain. While the tracks seem narrow remember lower gravity means that's a low weight per square meter foot print. The design, without the hydrogen cargo balloon, can do extended research runs. As well as doing basic maintenance the little robot fixit man (crab) can get samples, scout difficult terrain, de-bog the vehicle. There are winches and cables front and back. When riding on the big beast the little robot recharges and can, in some cases, self repair.
