like i've said before i'm a big fan of the book and it's been a big influence on me. heres a tribute for sorts.
first of many fan art pics i wanna get done since i promised to do more. i hope you guys like this one. it took my hours to finish!

It's called "Salinger," and is fairly resent. It was playing at one of the art houses in my town. It's about Salinger's life, when he was in the war, his relationships, and the books. There's going to be four or five new volumes of his unpublished work released in the next few years!

You know, learning more about Salinger, I can understand his completely glum outlook in Catcher, and his own later life. Y'know he lost half his company at D-Day and liberated the infamous Dachau concentration camp?

never seen the movie, cause i haven't had the chance, not cause i don't want to. lol
he need not be condemned to an island when he choose to do so himself. he also choose to keep his work to himself. he didn't try to impose his views on anyone or anything of the sort. you know so much of him cause of your own free will, like many... and all he ever really wanted when he was alive was to left alone.
a crazy man doesn't know he's crazy and tries to be normal... and a person can do seemingly crazy things, until he explains himself and then you realize he's genius. but sal never was the kind of guy to answer questions about his work or his life.

Who knows, at least he's still alive in the end despite his best tries. Theres always hope.
They should have drafted him in 'Nam when he was in his thirties. As far as movies go, his despair would be perfect in Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, or Apocalypse Now. If you havent't seen any of those, at least watch one, OK?

I'm glad you liked the book. I'm not finished yet, I have maybe about a hundred pages to go. I love it so far. My mom has always bitched about me reading more classics and so far the only classics I've ever finished and ever liked was Secret Garden and Little Women. The first time I heard of the book was when my English teacher played the song "We Didn't Start The Fire" and he told me it was a controversial book so I decided to give it search on the world-wide-web. Little did I know they had the book at my school library so I checked it out like 5 months after I heard about it, lol. Holden is such a crazy character and this book inspires me to find more entertaining classics at there.
I love your work. It could/should definitely be the renewed cover of the book. His face fits Holden's personality so well.

people keep posting and using on blogs and websites when ever they talk about the book... all saying well i thought it was the real cover. only thing that bugs me about it is that they never credit me or link back.
but i live that the fan really love it. and it is my favorite book of all time. to somehow be connected to it... it just crazy!

I will be honest and say I didn't like the book at all, but even with that being said this picture looks great and really captures Holden, especially with how you gave him a slightly poorer look with the gloves and beat up face but gave him the tie and dress shirt underneath it. Kudos to you! ;D

well if you look at the number of views and downloads, VS the number of people who faved and commented, it doesn't seem that way at times.

Don't forget though that not every view and download are from people on DA... so you can't really know for sure why they didn't comment or fav. Either way it's wrong people used it without letting you know :/
