First, I want to confirm that Applejack is sleeping, NOT dead. Moving on.

This one was inspired by MLP:FIM season 3, episode 8, "Apple Family Reunion". The first time I saw the episode I really didn't like it. However, I learned that the pair of shooting stars seen in the episode were supposed to represent Applejack's parents (who are pretty much confirmed dead, by the writers), and when I watched it again it made the episode take on a whole new level of meaning, and it made AJ a much deeper, more developed character. With the two times they show up in the episode it makes it pretty clear what is going through her mind at those times, and it completely changes the viewer's perspective on the episode.

I was impressed so much by it that I had to make this picture. I was excited to put it up, so there are some details I skimped on here and there, but I might return to it later to spruce it up a bit.

So, what does this picture have anything to do with that episode? Give the picture a good long stare. When you see it...

Giving in completely? The moon makes her dad's eyes, the branches outline the legs, head, and body, a combination of the rock and clouds make the mane and tail, and the reflected image of the father with a few ripple distortions makes the mother. They're both laying down, though the mother appears up-side-down. It's hard to do emotion on the face of something hidden in the picture like that, but know that this is supposed to be a happy picture.
