New Beginnings was the title of my show. It was New Years Eve and I was hiding alone upstairs. I could see them all, all those people. It was minutes to midnight and the excitement was building. I felt alone, I was alone behind that locked door. I wanted to bring in the new year alone. I wanted to remain behind that locked door.

Annah owed the gallery that first showed my photographs. It was Annah who had arranged this opening of my photos on new years eve. It sounded like a great idea at the time. But I thought I'd have a bit more control over who was going to be invited. I didn't. There were lots of people here who I really didn't care for too much. I was praying for midnight and I was praying this opening/party would pass quickly.

Ten, nine, eight, seven ... the crowd began to count down. Seconds to midnight and I was hiding behind the locked door on the second floor overlooking them all.
