hhhmmm, but doesn't Blackfire have a VERY strong well as a tyrannical evil princess? I mean, I know she's evil but shouldn't her willpower be able to utilize the ring? Or is there an aspect to her natur I'm missing? lol

so you require some kind of special quality to use the ring? Or is Blackfire hurting herself trying to use a ring that's run out of juice so to speak? Wasn't Sinestro himself a Green Lantern before he went bad? How was he able to use a ring back then?

Well, Sinestro had the ability to overcome great fear, but he also respects the power of fear, and it's ability to manipulate and impose order. That's why the yellow ring chose Batman before going to Amon Sur. He's a worshipper of fear.

Actually anybody can use a GL ring. But it takes training to use it well. Kyle's is different because he got to make his own ring at the end of his first tenure as Ion. His ring can't be used by others unless he decides to allow it. It also has a feature that lets his recall it to him at will. (you seem to have missed that) Enh... I like your story anyways.

Actually, I both knew and remembered that Kyle's ring returned to him, but I was counting on the fact that most of my readers wouldn't realize that. It's so much funnier the have Blackfire sleep with him and run away with his ring than for it to just return to him. It means that at some point, he has to come back for it. And besides which, I am relying more on the animated version of Kyle Rayner, so his ring probably doesn't have all those fancy features.

I believe the guardians put that in as a 'safety feature' you have to be deputized by a GL before you can use the ring

Well, I don't know if using a ring is something that has to be taught or if it requires a special touch, but all I know is that Green Arrow couldn't do it, and he's been a serious badass since his return from the dead.

yup. They went through three rule changes on those rings. But considering two yahoo's from the boondocks could use the rings when Hal Gordon and Guy Garder had theres stollen.... makes one wonder

Wasn't aware there were three, but I've of that yahoo story. If you want a fun look at Green Lanterns though, look for Alan Moore's DC stories, a whole book of them came out and he's got at least two landmark GL stories in there. One is "Mogo doesn't socialize," by now you're likely to know who Mogo is, but the story is funnier if you don't. The other is "In Darkest Night," which tells a very interesting dilemma faced by Katma Tui.

You really do. They're collected in a recent book called "DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore." The Green Lantern stories in it are among my favorite, but it's also got "The Killing Joke" and "Whatever Happened to the Man of Steel?"

Maybe it is. I once saw somebody try to redesign Sinestro along those lines. It could work.

Yes, klorbag was Star's word for BB when he shot the oil balloon at her, and she used it on Mother Mae Eye later on. I figure it's a dirty word in Tamaranean.

Hmm... Blackfire's will isn't cynical, it's more like downright dominating, ruling with an iron fist kind of will; of course, who's to say that wouldn't get the same effect for the ring? And you're right, Ethan Van Sciver was fantastic drawing that comic.

Well, I didn't really say that Blackfire's will was cynical, that was Sinestro's evaluation of Green Arrow. I just like the idea that not everybody who picks up a ring can use it. Who knows, maybe she actually does have what it takes, but I felt that this result was a lot funnier.

In this case, I'd say thanks. Could you imagine if Blacky just came crashing down on the Titans while they were still trying to work through the whole Trigon thing? I'd call it an unwanted disruption.

Well, using those rings hurts. Check out Green Arrow in GL: Rebirth when he tries to use the ring! It's like something in his head is exploding! I'd never seen so much tension and pain in a drawing before, I think!
