Description
one of my early customs was adding some articulation to G1 Perceptor keeping much of his original G1 aesthetic. As I developed over the years and built up the rest of my collection with customs, he seemed more and more out of place. I started taking him apart again and lost interest for a while.
After reading All Hail Megatron I decided to go in this direction. Guido did such an awesome job updating him and I wanted to stay as true to his vision of the character while still maintaining some of the G1 elements. mainly I wanted him to have both his eyes as well as the monocle.
G1 Perceptor's chest, helmet, scope, silver knobs and the inside of the lower legs and feet were reused for this. Arms and shoulder mechanics were courtesy of universe inferno. The area between the chest and the shoulders are modified gundam parts. Hands are cast alternators' from Ptitvite. abdomen is built up using a KO of megatron robotmasters and various fodder from my random bin. Crotch/hips, upper legs and outer shell of the lower legs are classics optimus and the knees are neo shifters to allow for full rotation and sideways bending. Shins and knee caps are a combination of modified gundam parts and scratchbuilt areas. The face is also courtesy of universe inferno. the monocle is scratchbuilt. Neo shifter parts were used for the scope/canon's armature. front wheels are lego, "foot" wheels are excellion's and leg treads are from a random tank model kit. The pistols are casts from revoltech rodimus. The rifle and scope uses one of perceptors original G1 guns modified with styrene and an MP starscream null-ray weapon. Paints are mostly modelmaster enamels. decals are both homemade and random clippings from other kits.
