Description Batman in the Rain of Gotham.

April showers bring May Batmans?

I have the feeling that the rain in Gotham city could be hazardous to your health, LOL.

this is cool- I like how you make him more lean, it's very neat. The whole atmosphere is really effective- got this whole smog look to it- hehe. And, the batman sign in the sky there looks great.

My favorite part of this entire piece is the water color blotchy background. I like your take on Batman and how you rendered the rain. There is just something about this right arm/torso that bugs me. Maybe it looks a little stiff, or the arm kinda gets lost in the cape. No matter what, its another great piece by you. In a couple of weeks we are gonna have to trade art cause I'll be done with school.

I'm glad I could help.

I think the rendering depends on the lighting and texture that you're going for. The dark inking style you used on the underside of the cape, for example, works beautifully.

Juding by the cape and cowl, the light source is above and behind him, but the strong lines on his body look like he's lit directly from the front by a bright light source. You could add more shadows on his body and darken it to match the work you did on the cape and I think everything would click a little more.

I'd try a couple versions ranging from heavy, harsh lines with no feathering to a softer style, and just keep playing around. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I forgot to mention that the background is amazing and you work really well with Copics, by the way.

I hope that helps...I'm not an inker, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Very lovely...I like the muted color palette a lot. Works really well with the mood. And the rain effect is awesome!

If you wanted to go for a softer look, you could add a little more feathering to the black lines to transition them a little more. Right now some of the lines, like the ones on his legs, look a little too hard and "cut" into the form a bit.

Just my two cents. I hope that's helpful.

I totally agree about the hard lines...especially on the legs and around the midsection. I don't really know where I want to go with my rendering--I wanted to spot more blacks and heavy it up a bit but was too cautious...same with the cross hatching and feathering. I need to do about 100 more of these and then I'll have sense of where to go. What do you think?
