Imperial Janissaries are elite shock troops in the service of Empress Aurora Lightfall of the Empire of the Alicorn. Composed entirely of members of the Empire's non-alicorn subjects.

In olden times, long before the Great War, Janissaries were an elite fighting force of the Capran Empire, a long time enemy of the Zebra nation, and an ally of Equestria during the war. The Janissary Corps was revived by the Empress of All Alicorns to make use of her non-alicorn subjects. The Janissary Corps of the Empire is lead by a mysterious individual only known as 'The Janissary,' an Alicorn who serves as the Empress' personal body guard.
