This one was really fun and interesting! I made baby a bit submersible, I think maybe she doesn't have difficulty diving a little because she's not yet built up her fat reserves yet!

-Steller Sea Cow is an extinct member of the sirenian family, first described in 1741.
-It inhabited the seas between Alaska and Russia and was first noticed there by Europeans after a shipwreck, though it's extremely possible indigenous populations knew and interacted with the animal before this.(it's believed this also lead to a decline in it's population even before Europeans arrived)
-Within 27 years of it's discovery it was hunted to extinction for fat, meat and hide.
-It could reach weights of 8–10 tons lengths up to 30 ft.
-It had a thicker layer of blubber than any other members of it's species and had a forked tail instead of the rounder paddle like tails other sirenians have, except dugongs.
-Its believed to have lived in small family groupings and fed on kelp, which it ate with long white bristles on its upper lip and keratin plates in it's mouth.
- This animal was buoyant, and couldn't submerge completely owing to the amount of body fat it had. It's skin was also 1 inch thick likely to defend it against injuries from ice and rocks and to protect it from drying out, and of course, the cold.
-The animal was nicknamed 'bark animal' because of the rough texture of it's skin.
-It's not known what predator's hunted the animal, as it's constant buoyancy probably made it difficult for orca whales to drown, but it's possible sharks may have fed on it.
-It exhibited close social bonding, parental care and familial care, with injured members being helped and defended by other members of the group.
-The first bones of a Steller's sea cow were unearthed in about 1840, over 70 years after it was presumed to have become extinct.
- Skeletons of the animal have proved hard to find, of the 27 skeletons are assembled from the bones of at least 16 different individuals. The first bones of the animal were found in 1840, 70 years after the animal had went extinct, though some bones found have been dated to 1.700- 1,600 years ago.
-The animal was possibly in decline before Europeans discovered it, with as little as only 2,000- 1,500 individuals left.
-Some sightings of the animal have been reported up to the 1800s and one in 1963, with some local fishermen still claiming to sea the animal from time to time today.
-Its meat reportedly tasted like 'corned beef', it's fat tasted like 'almond oil', it's milk was made into butter and a game called 'kakan' was played with it's bones.
