Description
This was a pretty fun one to do. This weekend is the Midwest Gaming Classic in Brookfield, WI, and I'll again be hanging out doing sketches and things in the PKMNcast room. This piece is a sequel to my print from last year ([link] ), this time featuring the Elite Four from Pokemon Red and Blue Versions.

Being from the first generation, it was a little tricky nailing down which design to use for each of the trainers. Lance is sporting his costume from HG/SS, but his hair style is my interpretation of his look from G/S/C. Loreli for the most part is consistent with her look from FR/LG, and I actually picked colors directly from her character sprite for most of her clothing. Bruno's look has remained pretty consistent in each game he's appeared in, and therefore was the easiest to play with. Agatha, meanwhile, has quite a different look from my original interpretation of her look when I was 12. I always imagined Agatha about 20 years older than she appears in her FR/LG character art, and having much more of a Wicked Witch of the West sort of look, which I've tried to bring to her here. I purposely skewed her colors towards the green scale, elongated her nose, and gave her many more wrinkles.

Blue presented his own challenge from a compositional standpoint. My first pass at the line art had Blue alone at the top of the image, but that was far too barren. Obviously, one of the starters would be the ideal choice to represent Blue's team, but that begs the question of which starter? Charizard is arguably the most iconic of the generation one starter trio, but by general logic, Red gets Charizard, and Blue gets Blastoise. Ultimately, I opted to just give Blue ALL the starters, and incorporate the other three consistent members of his team.
