Description Edit: Oh I forgot I don't do bounce lights. But feel free to add bounce lights too idk

Sorry I suck at explaining things, um..
Yeah..

So someone asked me to do a shading tutorial, so.. why not??
I'd say that, It's best that you know everything about light and shading before you do it my style- um
I call this shading "onion shading" because of tHE AMOUNT OF LAYErs- //coughs
You can add more and more layers of multiplies if you want, sometimes I use about 5 layers, but mostly its 3.
..yeah

Hope it helps?? ;w;

Do you know how to change the outline color from black to something else after the main coloring is done? Just curious.Β

You have to check preserve opacity on the lineart layer, then you can change the colors. c:

Would you also know how to make things glow like neon or at least really brightly? I'm sorry if I ask a lot, I'm just trying to figure things out from someone who's more experienced than I am.

Well idk really but if I try to make things glow i often just put another layer of the same color on top of the thing and blur it. You can change the mode to screen/luminosity and adjust the opacity if you want to. If you want to make it look like a REALLY bright glow, putting white in the middle could work. Hope this helps ;w;

Oh how fun. :] I will have to try a picture using this method. :] Cool!

If you have crisp lines, you shouldn't need to make it a PNG to achieve the last effect at the end. Couldn't you just make a selection on the white spaces around it and then selection>invert to add a color blob on top of the whole image-- adding your effects to it that way? Just brainstorming.

Ah yes, but I don't really have that crisp lines and there are spaces that might not get selected properly-
Also when you invert, the selection can be messy and be smaller than the lines[increments does not help sadly]
I want the whole picture, including the lines to get the same effect. c:

Auugghh you're right, I tried it but it didn't have a nice feathering. SAI is so sucky for this stuff. XD Could probably do it really easily in Photoshop.
Maybe one day SAI will update! D8<
