Thomas as he would have appeared before the 1960s, with his original footplate. His rear footplate was actually curved, the flattening of the footplate post-1960s was done to increase his weight and fuel capacity (the bufferbeam and boiler would both remain at the same height, but the footplate would be lowered down, so the water tanks, cab, and coal bunker would be "deeper." I should draw that Thomas accurately some time)
