Aheh... ironic you should mention eye-scratching, given my inspiration in 'Crab Battle'. So yeah. No eye-scratching. x.o

how much does it cost on average to do a commission like this? also, do you ship to the person? this is to cute. i want one!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
WhiskerWing In reply to collee [2005-06-08 20:07:41 +0000 UTC]
=] for a single colored and detailed character with minimal props and no background, it's 15 dollars. Price goes up as complexity does. And shipping is another 5 dollars.
I'm trying to get better at backgrounds, so I can offer more complete commissions. =]

wow! hmmm.... i dont know how much that is in pounds... how do you charge for people in the UK? or do you not? some people charge it in subscriptions.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
WhiskerWing In reply to collee [2005-06-08 20:46:11 +0000 UTC]
Good point! My subscription recently ran out, so that's a viable option for me.
15 dollars is about equivalent to two 3 month subscriptions. If someone wanted to have something more detailed that might work up to the 12 month subscription, I'd have to discuss it with them. =]
If you're interested in going that route, feel free to email me at whiskerwing@gmail.com =] I'll give you some more detailed information on my commissions and my methods.

*picks you up and twirls you around happily* Awww, thankya!
And Sugarberry is intended to be a design, not necessarily just a bunneh. Cuz bunnehs are cute, but hard to draw. XD I should draw her as more species. THERE'S NEVER ANY TIME! XD

You tried what with Roko -- the shifter thing? And why didn't it work? *curious*

Rokosamii In reply to WhiskerWing [2005-05-16 14:55:30 +0000 UTC]
yeah I tried the shifter thing, but it was ahrd for me to get her face right on other animals. like horses for isntance. the mask didnt fit right, and it looked really crappeh. and I didnt want to change the way I look jsut to fit something else ya know? XP

WhiskerWing In reply to Rokosamii [2005-05-16 16:07:04 +0000 UTC]
Ah! I know what you mean -- the more complex the design, the harder it is to make it work.
But since my design isn't remotely natural, theoretically it'll work for almost any critter. The tail is the most complex bit, I think.
And I want to see Roko the horse!! With a mask and everything! XD

D'awww. xDDD; This reminds me of the story of two guys, each waiting for the other to talk first so that they forfeit their chance of getting the cookie.. and in the end, the rat ate up almost all of it before one of them couldn't stand it anymore and said, "The rat's eating up the cookie!"
Hahah. Great attempt at replicating the poses and expressions! They look so identical and it makes the picture very interesting.. the muffin should feel honoured being flanked by two guards! x3
I really like the wings... -nodnod- And your great colouring and shading, as usual! What kind of colour pencils do you use?

WhiskerWing In reply to sword-tales [2005-05-16 02:55:24 +0000 UTC]
LOL Jam-Jams already ran off with the muffin in a previous comment. THIEF! XD
And I use Prismacolors -- I've tried four different brands, and nothing comes close. Prang is a joke, Crayola isn't smooth enough -- it's hard to get the colors to blend very well with them, because the lead is harder. Ticonderoga was TOO creamy -- Even moving my hand across the paper smudged it, and it was like working with oil pastels.
Prismacolors are, sadly, the only thing that gets the right mixture of creamy and solid for me.
AND, regular colored pencils scan really crummy -- scanners like to pick up every single millimeter of uncolored space on a picture to huge proportions -- kinda like those mirrors that some girls use to look for blemishes.
If I use prismas, I can press down really hard and cover the entire surface, and they're still creamy enough that I can lift up some of the top layer for highlights.
That's small consolation when you see they're about a dollar a pencil though. ^^

xDD;
I've heard of how good Prismas were.. but sadly, colour pencils as good as them can't be found in Singapore! I really detest using colour pencils because the ones I've got do not blend colours well and leave lots of tiny uncoloured spaces which are so icky and irritable. >>;;

I know the feeling m'dear. I know the feeling.
My natural tendancy with colored pencils was to color lightly -- I always liked the "soft" look. But my scanner is an unforgiving taskmaster, so I have to color really hard to get rid of those white bits.

^^ Yes yes, I so agree.
Colouring it hard is usually the best way to kill the evil white space monsters. -nodnod- But it hurts the hand and the colour pencil a lot. o0o
