Hello! I saw your drawing at ProjectComment

I recently rediscovered my love for Animal Crossing and started playing the GC version again, so I was SUPER excited to see this fan art for one of my all time favorite games! This piece captures the whimsical, cozy feeling exactly that I get from playing the game. You did an awesome job with the lighting, and the villager's horns. I love how this keeps in tune with the game's cuteness and simplicity.

I struggled to find anything negative to pick out of this one, but I noticed the lights falling on the trailer were more orange and reflective of the fire than the light on the villagers, which is more white. I feel like it's easy to forget that light isn't always white, but when light is reflected off of a fire it typically does have a sort of orange tint. Making the light less white and more reflective of the fire can help tie in the characters to their environment more so that everything looks like it's altogether and not separate entities. This really isn't a particularly big deal for this piece though, just something to think about. I also couldn't quite make out what that bluish stuff was under the log and the campfire?

Overall, this is probably one of my favorite pieces of Animal Crossing fan art I've seen lately and it makes me jealous I can't play Pocket Camp. Nice work!

Thank you so much! I see what you mean about the lighting -- I was struggling to push the figures from the environment, so I pushed the lighting a bit more to make them pop. I may go back and readjust that though, to make it less jarring. The bit beneath the campfire is just where the leaves aren't covering the ground, you'll find little areas like that in the game and I thought it was a good way to break up the monotony of the orange environment. I'll have to define it a bit more to make it more clear what it is though, haha. I hope you get to play the game, it's super cute!

I think the bit beneath the campfire would probably make sense and click if I'd play the game, I know the GC version has weird little patterns on the ground that might seem strange if you're not used to them, too

I haven't heard much about it, I'm excited to eventually get a chance to play tho! ^^ Is it a full fledged Animal Crossing game or more of a minigame kind of thing?

I think it's a little of both! There is plenty of tasks/mini-games to do, but you get to decorate your campsite and different items attract different villagers.
