have you ever considered looking for inspirations with other deviantart artist ? i know some of them who have done wonderful "filly" version of some of the main characters and others that have done wonderful "adult" version of filly characters. some of them are really awesome and look incredibly authentic.

i commissioned someone for a custom OC at 13 inches tall and it was $101
not to draw attention from white dove, because she is amazing
but made it (it's the brown pony with headphones XD
he also has started making 8 inch ones for around $60
just sayin, cheaper alternative, albeit not as amazingly high quality (still good though ^_^)

true just depends if there is a con in your area. I shop alot on ebay and I got two plushies for 80 dollars, so you might get lucky there.

I've ordered 2 plushies so far, the Moon plush from kickstarter (Luna) which was only $25, and a Vinyl plush from ebay for $40 which is still good quality. [link]
I hope to find more good deals on plushies but living in Minnesota kinda keeps me away from cons...
