I've had this idea in my head for awhile, so I'm happy to finally be uploading it.
This is the first time Shadow and Maria meet, but it's not quite like you'd imagine. Enjoy. ^^

Shadow's and Maria's relationship is one that always pulls at my heart strings. This art work really shows how close Shadow and Maria were.

Twilight Zone episode....Shadows
The year: the near future. The place: colony ARC, the "Great Easterner" of the sky.
The girl: Last of the good doctor Gerald's family.
Her name, Historical recorded both forward and backward, for our purposes: Maria.
Survivior, a condition that compells her to remain in this sterile isolated of this momolithic station.
She has discovered a wonder.
A wonder her grandfather will introuce to her shortly.
She is about to become guide, friend, and mother to a creature of both shadow and substance.
Conflicted in a bodily singuality.....

You know, that isn't quite how I would imagine Shadow's creation at all. However, it is nice that this came from your imagination; who am I to judge the thoughts of others? Excellent work!

I think if you were going for a purely realistic picture, than he wouldn't have ears or quills formed yet. I'm also not sure if there would be blood vessels in the quills since the quills act more like hair on us. However, since all fetuses look the same (whether human or animal) as this stage, it is forgivable to have the ears and quills formed, if only so the audience can understand who is in there. The fetus would also be a lot smaller at this stage, but as I said, that would be difficult to do for this picture. Besides, all that could be explained away with a few scientific lines.
Despite my friendly critiques, very good job. This picture conveys exactly what you want it to I think. It is very original and thought provoking. Interesting use of color and I like the reaction on Maria's face. Great Work! ^_^

Oh, not at all. As I said, I was just commenting. I thought that everything worked for the picture that you drew and doesn't need changing. Unless you are going for a completely realistic approach, which I wouldn't recommend given that this is a Sonic drawing. Most of all, I liked the idea and the imagination that went into it. I got the idea that this wasn't just a picture you thought of, but a whole story behind it. ^_^
