Description Do I believe in fate?

In a sense, I guess I do.  I do not believe that everything we do is entirely planned for us, we do still have free will and our decisions do effect what happens to us.  Therefore we all have different facets within our lives-different possibilities.  One idea I had was that each of our lives has a natural flow, and there are some events in our lives that will happen no matter what, and some that can be manipulated with our personal timing and decisions.  Another idea is that every time we make a decision our path changes, but the path after that decision is nearly inevitable, until we reach our next major decision.

Either way, one thing I'm certain I believe is that if we are led by fate, there is no use in waiting around for it.  You have to actually live your life for the concept of fate to even be relevant; if you sit around and wait, fate can't put itself in action.  It's like walking up stairs. If you stop halfway up the stairs, the other people going up and down the stairs (life) are just going to go around you-it is not sensible to let fate bring you up (or back down) the stairs.  Sure, maybe someone will notice your folly and call the cops to get you either up or down the stairs, but it would be much more efficient to just keep going up the stairs. If you weren't meant to go up the stairs, fate would send something or someone to stop you.

Believing in fate should not be an excuse to let opportunities pass you by-in fact it is the exact opposite.  If led by fate, taking opportunities as they arise is more sensible, because if you aren't meant for that path, it just won't be available for you.  Granted, this doesn't mean that you need to do everything you are ever offered.  Don't follow people off of cliffs just because the opportunity arises.  Use of proper judgment is a key principle in the idea of fate as well.

My conclusion about fate:  Live your life, and if fate exists it will happen.
