Description Well Everyone! It's the 35th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda, and I decided to celebrate it by doing a poster of the LOZ game I have the fondest memories of playing as a Kid.  35 years??!!! How has it been this long?  I am 37 years old myself, and actually first began playing The Legend of Zelda back in the NES days with the Original NES Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2 the Adventure of Link.  But I remember this game came out and it blew me away.  Ironically, I got a Sega Genesis after my Nintendo days, so I had to originally play this game with my best friend over at his house because he had a Super Nintendo.  But I absolutely loved it!  It felt like  such an advancement and step up over the past 2 games. and the Background story and lore in the game manual just felt so in depth, and I remember seeing the comic for it in Nintendo power...so for me it was the first game that I ever played that really felt "Next Gen" and felt like a big deal.

I really pulled out all the stops for this particular poster.  I have a lazy tendency sometimes to re-use assets art-wise, but this poster is 99% all new stuff.  (there are maybe one or two tiny things I re-used from other stuff) but the point being, is that I was THAT enthusiastic I drew almost all new artwork and background elements!  The Poster took me about 3 weeks to finish.  3 weeks of Constant drawing and scanning and coloring in my spare time. lol  (I will try and post a pic of the big pile of pencil art I have laying around here for it...It's a LOT).  To take you all on a little tour of the poster, we will start with the middle Images. The first Images I drew for this poster were Link fighting Agahnim. I drew that and almost stopped there, but I was excited and wanted to keep going so I did Link and Zelda and Ganon there in the middle.  with the Triforce in the background.  I got the idea for that Link and Zelda from an Ocarina of Time bit of Line art that I found on Google. but I changed them to ATTP versions of  the characters.  (if anyone recognizes the pose and knows the original artist's name I will give full credit).  and Behind them I also have the Eight crystals you get when you beat each palace in the Dark world and save a Maiden/ Descendent of the Seven Wise Men.  in Contrast I have the 3 pendants of Virtue in the Border.  In the Middle I have the leaf background of the Lost woods as the backdrop along with a Cute Fairy and also the Bird from Kakariko Village that Transports Link around Hyrule.

Moving on to the border...the Border was my absolute favorite part of this poster. It gave me an opportunity to show and tell bits of the story and events from the game.  and I had to think of how to display it all creatively with the limited space, so it made for some cool design choices I think.  I ended up picturing Link and his wounded Uncle in the Castle Dungeon, and Link in the Pink Bunny form in the dark world along with Enemies from there, and I also pictured Turtle Rock and The Tower of Ganon, and Link running away from one of the Statues that comes alive and jumps after you when you get too close. The bottom two panels are my favorites.  The one on the left shows Link Finding the Triforce at the end of the Game, and making the Wish to set everything right, and the Panel on the opposite side is of Ganondorf finding the  Triforce at the beginning, and being Transformed into the Demon /Pig Ganon.  ( I did a little nod to The adventure of Link in this panel too).  The Top Two panels feature Banners of the Dark World and Hyrule and have silhouetted backgrounds of Land features and Hyrule Castle and The Pyramid of Power.  Lastly, for the Border corners, I decided to draw in some of the weapons/ Items Link uses.

All in all this has been one of my favorite posters I have worked on. I think I got so excited doing this poster, because I knew that This is the proper artwork for the game, that my 7-8 year old self would have loved to have seen for it...now I'm gown up and have the Tools and the Talent, I was over the moon excited to make it happen.   I really wanted to do something special for the 35th Anniversary of Legend of Zelda and in doing this poster I re-played a Link to the past also, and it kind of re-ignited my Love for this series! so who knows? maybe we'll see me do more Zelda related artwork in the near future!  But for now...I'm taking a break....I may play some Breath of the Wild. lol

Hope you all Enjoy all the little details in the poster. I had a blast making it, and it was truly a Labor of love for this game and series!

Happy 35th Anniversary to Legend of Zelda!
