That's interesting set of colours - pastel pinks + seablue. It makes him looking so innocent, but sharp claws, fangs and devilish tail say something different ^^'. Better stay cautious ^^!
But this cat-bat-gargoyle looks like nice companion if he'd accept someone to help this person in his journey 
I think that if you'd make it darker the glowing effect would be even stronger

He is bigger than a house cat, like a bobcat.
And he'll help with such a journey IF you won't carry any cucumber around but instead lots of tuna.

And true it is stronger, the highlights when all is darker,
but I found then when making things darker it becomes more threatening and I didn't want to use too bright saturated happy colors to cover that up.

Yes, the mood would change a lot with darkening him and obscure his real colours for sure. Sometimes it's better to bend realistic rules a bit to achieve something what simply looks good without them
