Description Yep, Catweazle as the Doctor!

Despite turning down the opportunity to originate the title character, Geoffrey Bayldon (1924-2017) still made many appearances in the Doctor Who universe. He first played Organon in the Fourth Doctor serial The Creature from the Pit. Years later Bayldon would get another chance to portray the Doctor! To celebrate Doctor Who's upcoming 40th anniversary in 2003, Big Finish Audio Productions started the Doctor Who: Unbound series, set in various alternate timelines, and allowing new actors to inhabit the titular role. Bayldon appeared in the first and seventh entries in the series: Auld Mortality and A Storm of Angels, both written by Marc Platt. Bayldon's Doctor was an older, regretful version of the first incarnation, who had decided to remain on Gallifrey, rather than leaving.

Outside of Doctor Who, Bayldon is best known for playing the title character in the British children's series Catweazle (1970-71). The character was an eccentric medieval wizard who accidentally transported himself to the present day!
Bayldon also appeared as the Crowman in Worzel Gummidge, the title character of which was played by Jon Pertwee AKA The Third Doctor!

Bayldon's other film and television roles included: Sergeant Cork (1964), Danger Man (1965), The Avengers (1961, 67), The Saint (1964, 67), Casino Royale (1967), To Sir, with Love (1967), Inspector Clouseau (1968), Z Cars (1963, 1968), Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969), The House That Dripped Blood (1971), Tales from the Crypt (1972), Steptoe and Son Ride Again (1973), The Tomorrow People (1976), The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), Juliet Bravo (1981), Bergerac (1981), Rumpole of the Bailey (1987), The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1988), Last of the Summer Wine (1995), Pie in the Sky (1995), Midsomer Murders (2000), Waking the Dead (2004) and New Tricks (2007).
