Why-So-Seriouss — Too Itchy...

Description This was an early concept of Rorshchach that I found in the book, "Watching the Watchmen" by Dave Gibbons. I thought it looked so cool, I had to draw it. The dialogue is thought up by me. I decided to add a fiery background, considering Rorschach's experience with such.

But I must say, I like the Rorschach we know and love better. We certainly don't need another Doc Manhatten.

Rorschach is owned by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons (DC Comics)

I also had that idea, made two characters from it. And this one inspired me to a third!

I'm interested. What are your three characters?

They are all based on a rorschach suit, and in some ways it is allways part of thier bodies. Except the fourth one, inspired by certain shape right now.

The first is a ninja, the black shades do not shift and are some kind of breathing orfices, he carries three pipes strapped on each lower arm and lower leg, which can be equipped with various waepons. He fist was a villain's minon, but joined the heroes when they all had to fight a bigger threat and later stayed with the heroes.

The second is a demon-possessed jester, the black shapes on his body not only shifting but also containing other colored shapes within. Red is open mouths he even can eat people with, Green is toxic radiation, Yellow is some kind of glue, yet he decides where it sitcks at and it absorbes blunt strikes like a block of rubber, and blue emits frozen air and grows razor-sharp ice crystals. The demon is simply crazy.

The third, inspired by the curls you put on the suit, is a liquid clown, his body can shape into almost everything, the black shapes floating and shifting like chocolate sauce mixed in jogurt. He is a benevolent hero and a clown by heart. He was already a crime fighter before, which led to the incident when he got tossed into that pot of specially engineered liquid rubber. Later he has to fight villains who get thenselves thorny armors of the stuff, and wins by flexibility, as for him rubber is his whole body and for them only a combat suit.

The fourth character, right now inspired by a certain shape you put into the suit, and alos has some aspects of Ozymandias and the Riddler from Batman, and stays somewhere between benevolent and neutral, he is a mutant and looks like the typical elve - with a catlike but furless tail. He has long blach hair and wears the suit only as clothing, it covers everything neck down and does not shift shapes, and ends in black boots and groves that are part of it and remind at paws. The tailtip contains a bionic which allowns him to plug himself into machines, also for example a mechanical hand or a psi-powered gun. His first loyality is his kin, second is personal power, but he actually helps everyone als long as it does not collide with his first priorites.

Wow, you've got a great imagination! So are you going to turn this into a comic or just a fiction story? I like the demonic jester the best. He sounds awesome. Eating people... Heh heh heh!

This early concept makes me giggle. Wasn't it called the 'flasher' costume or something?

Yes I think it was called the 'flasher' costume. I don't think his adversaries would take Rorschach too seriously if he flashed his blot covered body (Oooooh). I mean what's he going to do? A strip tease show to momentarily stun his enemies and THEN beat the crap out of them while they're still dazed or laughing? Hmmmm... Watchmen, the action-packed comedy movie!

He was covered in dozens of spots, which were really portals into another dimension. One of his favorite tricks was throwing a whole bunch of spots near Spiderman, and then punching Spiderman from an entirely different location, by moving his fist through the spots.

He was defeated once Spiderman had an amazing thought. "Hey, I can just push him off a building, can't I...?"

Always,

Where the heck do you get a full-body, spandex, shifty-shape unitard anyways?!? It even has FOOTIES!!

I LOLed when I saw it in the book, too.

NotSoFluent [2009-02-21 18:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I remember that design. When I first saw it in the book I was just like "wat".

Thank God they didn't use it though. It'd be way too damn weird, considering the character. The grungy trenchcoat-fedora look works a lot better.

Yeah, Rorschach is already scary enough to the criminal underworld, he doesn't need to look THAT scary... The sly detective look works for me too.

*sighs* I dunno, but what I DO know is that the scum of the underworld just wouldn't have been able to take him seriously, no matter how many fingers he'd broken..

Although it is, to some degree, quite endearingly cute, I doubt Rorschach could ever properly be referred to as 'cute' sooo... x)
