"And my verdict is…" Everyone in the courthouse looked up at the Judge expectantly.

"Not guilty!" the Judge announced.

"Darn…" Link sighed. "Oh well. I guess I'm not getting that sword…" Edgeworth glanced at him apologetically, although his proud composure didn't change. Phoenix, on the other hand, couldn't wipe the grin off his face. Mario smiled back.

"Good job," he congratulated.

"Heh, thanks," Phoenix replied gratefully. "I usually win against Edgeworth."

"Hey!" Edgeworth snapped. "I heard that!" There was a short pause.

"Wait a minute," he said suddenly, turning to his client. "What do you mean by 'sword'?"

"Oh, well, you see…" Link started. "After this whole…thing happened, I saw Mario with a new sword, rubbing it in my face. I was so angry at him, I sued him for it. But now that we lost…" He rubbed his hands down his face in frustration.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Luigi suddenly exclaimed. "Mario, weren't you just gonna give him the sword?" Link suddenly perked up. Mario walked up to him and handed him the sword.

"Um, thanks!" he exclaimed happily. Then he frowned.

"So you got this…for me?" he asked. Mario smiled and nodded. Link suddenly felt very guilty.

"Hey, I'm really sorry for suing you," he apologized. Then, to himself, he added, "Even though you did win…" Mario held up a hand.

"Don't even worry about it," he said. "This trial was pretty fun! And don't worry Phoenix," He turned to his attorney. "you'll still get paid in full. After all, I am a-"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Luigi interrupted. "We know you're great at everything you do and that you do a lot. Stop rubbing it in; I know how much you like to."

"Ah-ha!" Link suddenly shouted. "I knew you like rubbing things in! So I wasn't entirely wrong!" That helped reduce his guilt a little bit. He then turned to Edgeworth.

"Yeah, you'll get paid too, even though we really didn't need to come to court," he said. Edgeworth just shrugged.

"I'm just glad we found the truth," he said. Luigi made a face.

"What are you talking about "truth"?" he wondered. "Nobody lied." There was a pause.

"So this really was a waste of time?" Edgeworth asked incredulously.

"Ok, fine, I'll pay you extra," Link sighed. He knew money wasn't really an issue because he knew a rich guy that gives him all the money he wants (the guy was dead, and Link helped him out in his afterlife, so the guy could afford to give away money as a reward).

"Hey, I want a bonus!" Phoenix shouted. "He didn't even win!"

"Hey!" Edgeworth said again. "Don't be a sore winner!"

"Ah, that's ok," Mario said. "I'll pay you extra as well." He quickly glanced at his brother, then tried to leave in a hurry.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Luigi exclaimed suddenly. "If you take money from me again, I'll…do something to you. I don't know exactly what yet, but I'll do something."

"You'll have to catch me first!" Mario replied, laughing. At that, Luigi hurled a green fireball at Mario's behind.

"Yeow!" Mario yelped, jumping from the burn. Angrily, he spun around and hurled an orange fireball back at Luigi, who ducked, so instead it hit Link.

"Hey!" he shouted angrily. He fired an arrow at Mario, but Luigi suddenly stood up, not knowing what was going on, so he got hit instead at point-blank range. He pulled it out, slowly turned around to face Link, and glared at him angrily. Link laughed sheepishly as Luigi hurled a fireball at him. Link fired another arrow, but Luigi ducked again, so the arrow hit Mario. Suddenly, fireballs and arrows started flying around again. Then Link decided to try out his new sword, so he charged at Mario, who grabbed the blade. They pulled and pulled when suddenly, SNAP! It broke in half. The three friends all stared at it in complete silence.

"Uh, Luigi?" Mario said weakly. "Um, y-you can keep your money." Link slowly looked up at him, murder in his eyes. Luigi took cover behind a counter as all hell broke loose.

"Well, I guess some things never change," he sighed as Link chased Mario out of the courthouse, shouting, "I'M GONNA KILL YOU PLUMBER/DOCTOR/GOLFER…!"
