For a few days, it had become unseasonably warm; it was more than likely the last few warm days of the year. Despite the nice weather however, the first snowfall was expected in the coming weeks. Everyone was more or less scrambling to prepare for winter this time of year.

Before he'd ended up staying at Axel's manor, Quillan would make medicinal tinctures, various teas, incense, and the occasional food preserves from anything he could find around the woods. Rarely for himself, he would keep some things for his horse in case she got hurt or sick and sell everything else he doesn't need.

Even though he probably can't sell much as a wanted man, he figured it would be handy to gather what he could before the first snow would bury everything; especially with humans around, who could make use of the things Quillan didn't need himself.

"Oooh, are you going out?" Axel's inquiry nearly startled Quillan while he'd been focused on saddling Delight. The other practically popped up out of nowhere, how long has he been standing behind him?

"Yes." He replied with a glance at Axel, who standing beside his already tacked steed. "...Are you?"

"I am now, if you'll let me come with you." Axel grinned eagerly. He's been thoroughly enjoying have other people around, and lately Soren's been too busy doting on her new horse to hang out much.

"I'm just going to look for some herbs, it'll probably be boring following me around." Quillan replied as he mounted up. "But you're welcome to join me if you really want."

"Of course I do! I always enjoy riding with you." Axel smiled as he got on his horse to follow Quillan to the woods.

Quillan wasn't sure why what he considered to have been a compliment had taken him by surprise; ever since coming here, Axel's been nothing but kind and sweet to him and Soren. He didn't say it out loud, but he quite enjoyed Axel's company too. Not that he needed to, Axel knew this already.

The two rode at a leisurely pace upon reaching the forest so as to keep a better eye out for any useful herbs they might find. However, the sunlight wasn't exactly helping Quillan; even with the hood keeping direct sunlight from his eyes, he still found himself squinting in the less shaded areas. He was grateful to have Axel with him, perhaps he could be of some aid.

"I don't suppose you know anything about herbology?" He asked with a glance to the other.

Axel laughed, "I'll have you know, I'm a bonafide witch!" He declared, before he paused with a soft sigh as he hung his head. "...No." He admitted quietly.

Quillan smiled a bit with amusement, "Aren't witches supposed to know their herbs?"

"I know some!" Axel protested with a huff. "I just...haven't had the time to look around and mess with plants that much. There's only so much I can learn from books anyway, and so many helpful plants look exactly like poisonous ones!"

Quillan chuckled softly, "I could teach you, if you'd like. I've been doing this a while now myself." He offered. After all, why not? It'd be nice to have more consistent company when going out for herbs, and it just feels wrong to keep knowledge all to himself.

"I'd love that!" Axel beamed. He'd never had an actual person as a teacher before; nor had Quillan taught much to another person before either. This would be quite interesting for both of them.

There wasn't much left in the woods for them to find; not as far as they could see, at least. It wasn't exactly the most efficient search, with Quillan struggling to see in the light, and Axel having barely a clue of what they were looking for. Both returned to the manor feeling quite pleased with their ride regardless.
