I was lazy af with the background (the lines at least), and it STILL took forever to do XD Indoor scenes are difficult! And yes, it is meant to be ridiculously huge compared to my characters. I wanted to give a visual to emphasize just how BIG Axel's manor is, it's built as though it were made for giants. And lore-wise, we still don't yet know who (or what) originally had the place built (I do of course, but nobody else does, mwehehehe).
I'm changing up the way I draw Quillan as well, as I've decided I'm not completely happy with his current look in his ref and I think I can do better. So I might be playing around with that and trying different clothes on him for a while until I land on something I like ^w^ I'm still not happy with his hair here, but it's difficult when I have to draw everyone so smol lol. Oh well, don't mind me suffering at the hands of my own decisions XD
Also feel free to comment with critiques of my interior decorating, because I have no idea what I'm doing in that department. I'm just trying to make it look nice lol :') A chandelier definitely belongs in that room, but I REALLY didn't feel like trying to draw one.

The day prior, Axel and Quillan had spent most of their time working with Frantic Whisper together. They knew Soren had gone off for a ride as she so often did lately, but were unaware she'd been meeting with someone, straying close to the city to get their names cleared. She kept it secret from them, wanted to surprise them later.
The manor was big. Big enough that, the three could easily go the entire day without seeing one another, despite everyone being home. It wasn't out of the ordinary when they didn't see Soren after she'd gone out, figuring she'd returned at some point and was doing her own thing somewhere else on the property. They would always get together at the end of the day however, to gather around the fireplace and talk about whatever, sometimes Soren would read aloud to the boys if there wasn't much to talk about. It was quite odd when she didn't join them that evening, so the two began to look for her. It'd be easy to hide or go unnoticed just lingering in a less-used room, so they weren't hugely concerned just yet.
It was when they spotted Mourning Cinder , Soren's horse, lingering outside the paddocks while still fully tacked, that they knew something had happened. The mare had wandered home when her rider failed to return, seeking shelter from the cold weather.
The boys immediately rode out into the woods to look for her; they didn't know she'd gone into the city, thinking instead that some animal had jumped her while she was out riding in the woods. Naturally they looked in all the wrong places, desperately searching for anything, any sign of her, until it was nearly dawn and both were too exhausted to continue. The two were absolutely distraught, certain she was dead by that point, and technically, they weren't entirely wrong.
To say they were relieved to see Soren riding in the buggy that drove onto their property, would be an understatement.
Soren was greeted with hugs and concerns from the two as to whether she was alright, and poor Axel bawled his eyes out as he expressed how they'd been so sure that she'd died.
It was heartwarming to Aulaea , seeing Soren's friends so worried for her wellbeing and relieved to see her alive and well. Any concern of the truth going over poorly with them left the demon in that moment.
Soren took the time to introduce Aulaea to Axel and Quillan, leaving out the fact she was a demon for now as per the morticians' request. Aulaea greeted the two kindly, but she didn't stick around too long and headed back the way she came shortly after the three were reunited. Soren had a lot to speak with them about, and Aulaea wasn't going to impose.
The three headed inside after Aulaea had taken her leave, Soren sitting Quillan and Axel down to talk so she could explain everything. How she'd been meeting with someone to clear their names with the law, that she'd been murdered before even meeting Quillan, and then a second time last night.
Quillan looked at Soren with surprise after she'd explained what'd happened to her, "Wow, that's way more exciting than what I've been keeping from you."
Soren nearly startled at that, leaning forward in her seat a little. "What!?" She was surprised he'd been keeping anything from her in the first place, Quillan seemed such an honest man.
Quillan explained nonchalantly that he was a vampire, to which Soren replied "Well that's a stupid thing to keep from me, why would a murderer of all people care if their friend was a vampire!?"
He shrugged, "I don't know, I've never been friends with humans before you two."
All the while, Axel was listening quietly with the smuggest grin on his face. Quillan questioned what he was smirking about, seeing that he'd been so quiet through all of this.
Axel then stated how he thought it was funny that Soren didn't know about Quillan being a vampire, as he could tell from the moment they met. The two were quite surprised to hear he already knew, nearly rising from their seats and promptly asking how he even found out so quickly; to which Axel pointed out that it was a LITTLE obvious.
Quillan and Soren both argued that it was NOT obvious at all, so Axel merely shrugged and stated that he didn't care what either of them were anyway, they were his friends regardless. He did tease them for being 'bad friends' for keeping so much from one another, though he was simply messing with them.
------
TLDR; Quillan and Axel have been worried sick as soon as they realized Soren hadn't come back from her ride earlier, and more than relieved now that she's back. Soren explained to them that she was undead - which they were fine with, albeit a little confused - and Quillan confessed to being a vampire. No more secrets!
