*EDIT* finally upped the contrast, looks much better /edit

I'm hoping this won't look like crapolla when I upload it, it looks great on the computer though! I've spent close to four hours on this piece, so no crap about how the background looks! My main focus was Dillinger and I think I got him just right
I love this stallion
I may upload a detail shot later of the face, which I spent a lot of time on.

It kills me how many people believe they have to have special brushes and effects and stuff, wanna know what I used on this? Airbrush to block in color, oils for the mane and tail, and the burn and dodge tool for the highlights and shadowing. It was pretty simple really. AND . . . this whole thing is probably like four layers. The horse was two and the background was two.

At our annual New Year’s Eve party, John Maybe the owner of Paige Stud, announced his New Year’s resolution. By the end of the year, all of Paige’s studs would be fathers. So far our stable was not the most popular one around, my quarter horse stallion Coyote Killer had sired more foals than any of our champion thoroughbreds. It was a harsh blow to Mr. Maybe, whose dream it was to have a major impact on the racing community.

But stallion number one we planned to advertise was our one and only smoky black Andalusian stallion, Dillinger’s Deuces. Mr. Maybe went out and bought a really expensive high resolution camera to capture every detail on the black horse. Larry, our head groom, made sure his favorite stallion was clean and flawless for the photo take. He had also been working extra hard on teaching the horse to rear up on command to “show off his undercarriage” as Larry stated. Dillinger was probably one of the smartest horses I had ever encountered, he was a quick learner and had actually shown some talent for problem solving!

Danny readied the camera as we prepped the smoky black stud to get the shot perfect. The lighting was a bit dull but John said it shouldn’t be a problem, the flash of the camera would handle that. Finally Danny said he was ready, I stepped out of the shot and Larry removed the halter from Dillinger’s head, which he shook right away. Larry stepped back in to fix the jet black mane and Danny said it was fine, to step back and give the command. Larry quickly reverted his movement and held his hands out, Dillinger froze and prepared for the next gesture. Danny nodded and Larry lifted his arms and got the immediate response. Dillinger looked like a war horse as he lashed out with his front hooves and danced around on the dead grass. Danny snapped the photo and Dillinger descended. Off in the distance a storm came rolling in.

YAY!!!! This horse is awesome I love him so much! I heavily reffed a photo though and now I can't find it, it was a friesian stallion so if you find it please let me know.
