I think that iTunes won't make a App for Windows 8, however I've imagined how it could be if it existed.I've used iTunes 11 interface for this concept. The player with controls are in top and top right. You recognize the album mosaic with album names and artists ; when you select an album, instead of show it by a ribbon, the album cover (with a transparency) and the songs' list are at the left. I've naturally used blue color, cause blue is the main color of the album cover (here M83 Hurry Up, We're Dreaming). And the colors change for each album cover, like in iTunes 11. You must imagine it like it was a real app. ^^
I know it seems real, but unfortunately it isn't. But we don't know the things which will exist in the future ...

Why does it have to be itunes? I can use open source libraries for the backend end.
Would anyone pay for a WinRT app that looked like this? Or a desktop app that looked like that? Just music playing and enjoyment. I'll let the library management apps manage libraries (these days all you need is FLAC + MusicBrainz Picard)
I been envisioning something like this for a long time. Could this qualify as a kickstarter? Open source it if other devs want to help.
I can do it in c# WPF and WinRT. I can bring this mockup to life in a new media player.

For the moment any dev wants to make it real. The main goal of this concept is that people loving it ask to iTunes (if they want) to make real iTunes app for Windows 8. Knowing Apple I know they are always on their expensive products. And are not so interested about Metro/Modern UI. But they are wrong to ignore this user interface.
So you think it is possible to make a developer version of iTunes Modern UI ? That would be nice.

Wow! I love the concept! Sadly, I imagine Apple will ignore Metro UI until the old desktop goes completely away.

I really hope that they don't. Google decided to snub Metro, and that hurt a little. Oh well, I use Bing and Microsoft services on my Surface anyway π

If ever there were proof that Apple has completely fallen by the wayside in terms of design/UI aesthetic, it's this mock-up right here. iTunes (and increasingly, most of Apple's UI design) continues to be a train-wreck, and your mock-up is clean, simple, and really lets the album art stand front and center.
