This is incredibly good for many reasons.
- Good proportions. There are very few things that feel a little off once you notice them but overall, they don't sting or jump out.
- Very Good composition and posture. The posture feels very natural, comfortable and is a joy to look at; it's beautiful and very aesthetic without objectifying the womanhood and still has a slight feminine charm. And the composition is full of movement, with diagonals all over the picture and the direction leading to the upper body and resting the eye on the stern and serene face.
- Very balanced use of colours. Perhaps the colour palette could be a little more vivid and there could be a little more tonal variety between the figure and the background, what with the slight blending of the two, mainly in the lower body but it's not problematic. Jumping between the feel of metal, leather, the insignia and the red undergarment meeting is very relaxing.
- It's full of very authentic details and the entire outfit is full of class and integrity. A very realistic and functional armour and articles of clothing that go with it. The straps. Plate with mail beneath. Bruises. Not an ounce of sexual objectification unlike practically every depiction of warrior women and it sill retains a trace amount of eroticism without resorting to the former.
- Perhaps most importantly, it's full of that perfect classical nostalgia of 80s' high fantasy inspired paintings. *It stirs the imagination and wish it was part of something real*. In fact, when I first came upon this elsewhere, I was certain that this belong to that period and was one of the pieces I wasn't familiar with. This is an iconic piece of work.
I wish this was a bigger and more detailed work. I'd implore you to return to it for another attempt if you ever find it in yourself. As it is, this has all the qualities to be an iconic image.

I love her armour, especially the little details like the faces on her knee-guards and shielding on her axe. She looks fierce and stern, I love it!

Thank you for this. I've been looking and looking for images of female warriors. I want to see strength. I want to see a battle hardened female. I want to see something that looks like the woman can actually fight! This has been the first convincing piece of art!

Now this is what a warrior woman looks like. She looks like she's ready for the kill, not the close up. Looking at other pictures of "female warriors" on this site shows me just how little women are respected even in modern society.

Now this is what I'm like when it comes to female warriors. Unlike other typical artists, you know better that if a warrior (male or female, doesn't matter)is going into battle, that warrior is going to need a full set of armor no matter what. unlike those other stupid artists, you have common sense. Suggestive poses, cleavages, practicely no armor, all of which are extremely overated.

It's amazing... no, beyond amazing! A female warrior with no cleavage! I don't think I've ever seen one before...
Sorry for the outburstyness, it's just that I get so sick of seeing female "warriors" who are basically wearing a leather/metal thong and bra. Who cares how sexy they look? They'd be dead five second into battle.
Anyway, this is really a great piece, very well done. She really has character, you look at it and you feel that she has a story. Wonderful job on the armor too, I love the design, and I like to see armor that's actually been used!

I cannot believe that so superb a picture has had so few comments! You've managed to artfully depict a strong, capable-looking female warrior, free of the all-too-typical impractical dress and suggestive posing that you usually see in the genre. You, my good man, are to be highly commended.
