Description
How do the blooming flowers of the saguaro cactus feed anyone nectar? Well by day, the Gila woodpecker feeds on the nectar of blooming flowers. Although Gila woodpeckers feed mainly on insects, they also feed on nectar, fruit, and seeds. By night, a colony of lesser long-nosed bats take flight to find flowers to feed on nectar by using echolocation. To feed on the blooming flowers, the lesser long-nosed bat uses its long tongue to lap up nectar inside. Lesser long-nosed bats are important pollinators of night-blooming cactus.
