Description
Meet the pichi or pygmy armadillo. An unusal creature found in the scrublands of Argentina. Unlike other armadillos, the pichi is the only one to hibernate. It builds up considerable fat reserves before entering its winter burrow, where it remains from May to August. You see, it's colder here in the Southern Hemisphere and while it's warmer there in the Northern Hemisphere. The pichi is listed as near threatened.
