Description
Pop quiz; can you guess what bird is a close relative of the elegant crested tinamou? The answer is the Darwin's rhea. One of the largest birds in South America, the Darwin's rhea cannot fly, instead it runs with its long legs. Compared to the rhea, the elegant crested tinamou is not flightless, but it prefers to walk and run on the ground than to fly. However, tinamous do fly but only for short distances at high speed. As I said before, not all birds fly, but all of them have feathers.
