This is a green shield bug. Found in the forests of western Europe. The green shield bug is also called the stinkbug, due to its two glands near its hind legs from which they release foul odor. This strong smell stops many predators from attacking. Shield bugs are called like that because of the shape of their armored backs, which look like shields of old.
