The chance to get this close to a large female Sumatran Tiger is unbelievable. One of the best things about being a wildlife artist is finding opportunities like this. Getting into an enclosure with six tigers is an experience no one forgets, but having a tiny bird land on your shoulder in a rainforest, or looking into the eye of a humpback whale from a couple of inches away come close. These moments are humbling in the extreme, sometimes leaving me in a daze for hours trying to process the experience.

This was also the first pastel/coloured pencil work I completed and sold.
