Description This just in: "Tarrine" is a tricky name to work into a title.

Nina taking on 's snow leopard, Tarrine. As we can see, Nina's learned an important lesson since her last guest match: make sure you're on the defensive in the first few panels, that way you get to be on the attack at the end. The Blizzard is one of Tarrine's finishers; I understand that it's not good form in RP to make unbelievable comebacks from powerful finishers...but I don't RP. Actually, it's a pretty fair representation of how Nina manages to face-off with stronger, swifter foes like Tarrine without getting curb-stomped; Nina may not be very strong or fast for her species, but she's got resilience in spades.

So, this...took longer than I wanted, no denying that, and I apologize to zerry for that. A lot of that was procrastination time, of course, and a lot was a busy schedule. First comic with cel-shading though, and equally significant, although probably less obvious, first time I've really cared about consistency with markings. You may have noticed, but I rarely worried too much on adjusting Nina's arm markings in different positions in the past, but I'm going to pay attention from here on out. The main impetus for this, of course, was the fact that I needed to do the same for Tarrine here. Didn't copy and paste any spots, but hopefully it doesn't look like spots are migrating across her fur as she moves around.

ALRIGHT! Wildcarp is back!

Great comic, I notice your continuing to use shading and trying to improve on you style. Not sure I like Nina with the black Pupil over her solid color blue eye from previous pics but I might just have to get used to it.

The way her boot looks and the general background on the twirling tornado move is fantastic. Looks a bit odd at first until your brain kicks in with the swirling background and you realize it's meant for movement. Cool!

Excelent anatomy, great story telling, and finally get to see Nina kicking some tail! FAV as usual.

Yeah, hopefully will be creating/posting a bit more regularly now that the summer's over (tough to concentrate on that in the heat).

Well, trying to keep combat expressions varied; I'd only be using that for "stunned", not on a regular basis, but I'll bear in mind that it didn't work for some people.

Thanks for the notes on the spin move; I wasn't sure whether I should repeat the effect from the giant swing pic from earlier this year or try something different, so I'm gratified that this worked so well.

And thanks much for your generous comments.

I hope so, your stuff got me into drawing again, though I'm out of it since I have 0 time at the moment and lost my mojo.

Yeah, it took a second to figure out the effect you were going for but once it clicked it worked great for the dizzing scene. As for here eyes, I just am used to the solid blue from all the pictures you have done in the past that's all.

No Prob, thanks for taking the time to do these pictures so I can comment on them

PEACE!

Woa, is interesting how much thinking can go thru an wrestlerΒ΄s mind while on the match Yeah! ^^ I am pleased see Nina reacting ^^ After a nice sequence of moves UUhn, just a curiosity: why the leotard helped her on the match? besides is a cool leo....

Wildcarp In reply to zkfanart [2010-09-25 03:31:39 +0000 UTC]

Well, a lot of the thinking's going on after the match, with 20-20 hindsight; I doubt her thoughts were quite as lucid while being tossed around. And yeah, Nina's improving, no doubt about that. The whole thing about the "Leotard of +4 Suplex Mastery" is just her joking around; she's implying her outfit is a special one that somehow magically made her a better wrestler, when really nothing of the sort happened.

can i ask a request?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wildcarp In reply to PepitoDoodlez [2010-09-25 11:25:45 +0000 UTC]

That would depend heavily on the request, I guess. I'm not taking comic requests; a single pic I could probably take on, but my queue's long enough that you may have to wait a while for me to get to it. If you still want me to consider it, note me about it.

Yeah, I sorta made the decision that I wasn't doing any other art until I was back on track with this...aaaaand I still procrastinated a fair amount. But happy that my skills didn't degrade in the interim.

very delicious-looking work here

Great work on the individual markings of each character, that can get complicated when dealing with Anthros in unusual wrestling poses.

I'm looking forward to the other pieces in this series

Wildcarp In reply to WAfan [2010-09-25 03:18:22 +0000 UTC]

Heh, thanks.

Good to know the extra work on the markings wasn't wasted effort. Although it's definitely making me consider whether or not I want to create any cheetah or lynx characters.

Right, only halfway there! ...oy.
