Description This is Meirah, my player character from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Carth Onasi, NPC Republic pilot and optional love interest. I scribbled this over the Thanksgiving holiday as an entree to the kissyface meme that's been circulating around DeviantArt for a while.

The name is a nod to Lord Leighton's painting of the same title. One of the themes I like to explore in playing with Star Wars-verse is the concept of knighthood- what is that all about, and how does the cultural baggage we have around myth-pervaded warrior castes change when we take it out of a feudal, agrarian context? Revan/Meirah is the Jedi here, but Carth outdoes her in a lot of the traditional elements of the concept, all the way up to (not making this up, it's built into the game) point-blank asking her to let him rearrange his life around protecting and supporting her. De Troyes and Mallory would approve.

I intended the space outside of the viewport to be slightly less purple. Oops.

Thanks! I racked out Gary Faigin's book The Artist's Complete Guide to Facial Expression and I think having it as a reference helped me a lot with getting across the emotional nuance that I wanted here.

One of the things that the Kiss meme is great for is experimenting with drawing kisses that don't look like face-cannibalism. I'm gonna see about doing more of the prompts from that in the future.

Agreed. Pants-incinerating passion gets a lot of press (and is a lot of fun!), but there are other dimensions of love that are totally worthwhile as artistic subjects. One of the reasons that fRevan and Carth are fun to write/draw about is that their relationship covers so many of those.

Yay Carth! And you even drew him KoTOR- comics outfit ; ) Your coloring is nice. I am doing right now Carth Onasi cosplay and I think I am the first one to try because here or even in google is not pictures of others

Thanks! I've been learning coloring from a lot of the great marker tutorials here on dA.
I'm a costumer too, and was just thinking that it was odd that I'd never seen any Carth cosplay before. I'd love to see yours when it's done- be prepared to be chased by rabid fangirls.

I've got to agree. He's pretty complex and realistically flawed, but it's difficult to imagine a better non-Force-user to keep a Jedi's head screwed on straight.

The get-up he's wearing here was sourced from the KotOR comic series. If you get a chance, I recommend picking it up. Our favorite flyboy puts in a couple of crucial cameos, and you get to see him in action about seven years prior to the events of KotOR, before the Sith kicked his puppy.

ohh! i will definately be checking that out! tht is soo cool!! I loved Carth's character, and the whole side quest with Dustil was just heart wrenching!

I'm starting on a fic-version of that side-quest. It's got a lot of interesting complications that make it a challenge to write, especially when you assume Revan to be female and light-sided. In particular, I think it gets to the core of why Carth is who he is at the time of KotOR, rather than the generous-spirited, effortlessly friendly/good-natured guy we see before that time.
