Description
Everyday I travel
From home to school and back again
Mostly happy
But sometimes sad

Today I read a bit of poetry
Much as my own writing is
But there was something lurking there
Hidden in the ink and words

And it woke in me a feeling that
I’m not sure I want to have
A hatred of my country as
I have never known before

And a longing for retribution
That we should pay the blood we owe
To all those countries we have hurt
Interfering in their politics
For our own selfish selves

But mostly I have only wishes
To show for all of my brave words

I wish that the rivers
Would run clean again
I wish that the homes and mosques
Could stand tall again
I wish that feet exiled to foreign lands
Could stand on homeward sands again
I wish that lungs breathing alien air
Could move in time with winds at home again

I wish so many things
A million little happinesses
But how many will come true?
And how many will remain wishes only?

Is it up to me…

Or is it up to you…

To get them home again…?
