Description At Wingham Wildlife Park 2 Lions were rescued from a situation where they were being mentally and physically abused. The move was a huge success and Clarence & Brutus are settling in very well, however their past abuse does continue to show and means that they have to be monitored more closely than they might usually need to.

Later in 2013 Wingham Wildlife Park will be holidng a fund raising event and this is a painting which I have prepared for sale in an auction at this event. All of the money from the auction will go towards all of Clarence and Brutus's continuing and future vet bills, and if i sell any prints of this on dA the same will happen with those funds.

This painting was done on canvas (30" x 20" - which is the largest painting I have done to date), using a mixture of Acrylic, Tattoo Ink and Tea... Hope you enjoy!

I really like the simplicity of it, but it's still beautiful And I think the transparency in the background is a nice effect!

This is really majestic. I love the transparency! That's hard to do with traditional, isn't it?

Thanks for the lovely comment! The transparency aspect is difficult to get, and so far I can only ever really achieve it by using mixed media approaches... in this case acrylis over a base painted with several layers of tea.

This tea thing sounds really amazing. Your piece is the second one I've faved on this site to use it. I should try it sometime...

Lots of people use several pots of tea with different strengths, but I have found the best effects for me come if I make one fairly strong pot and then build up layers.

I also used tea in my rainylakes friendship contest entry; [link]

Thanks, we have some great works for this auction. Compared to some of the paintings it almost feels like this one has no place being auctioned off lol! There really are some beautiful paintings going for sale.
