Description
After reuniting, Shenandoah and her uncle Enzo traveled together for much of the winter. As winter turned to spring, Jerikoh finds Shen as she is hunting on her own, and tells her that Vektren knows that she freed Aivar and they are hunting for her. He then reveals that he too is being hunted, for turning against Vektren to warn her of this. Realizing that they are both in grave danger, Shen knows she must flee north with Jerikoh to try and escape Vektren.

Shen and Jerikoh are in a dangerous place, dangerous for themselves and everyone who helps them, including Enzo. Shen tells her uncle vaguely that she had some business to attend to in the north, knowing that Enzo's relentless search for his family is pulling him in another direction. And so the two decide it best to part ways for a time, Enzo to continue his search for his family and Shen to flee Vektren with Jerikoh. Unwilling to let this be their final goodbye (after all, they both have so little family left), they agree to meet up again in the summer by the northern seashore.

The dark form, looking like an ant in a field of sugar, trudged silently, head down and shoulders slumped. The image of hopelessness and fatigue. Enzo had lost all spark, all his fire. The kindling in his stomach was now ash, rising like bile in his throat, threatening to project from his mouth in a protest against travelling on.
His whole body was protesting, in fact. Every muscle held a dull, thumping ache, every bone creaked like an old, abandoned house. He had been walking, tumbling, and faltering for weeks on end. No rests, no food, besides small scraps he would find buried in the snow, just as he wished to be. But there was faces, those two smiling faces, that he continued to see on the horizon, that fueled him on.
In the silence, a sudden rumble cracked the thick, lingering air, and Enzo had no time to brace himself before The Start of the Truth (Enzo and Shenandoah)It had been a few days since Shenandoah had found her uncle collapsed in the snow, and the two had been traveling together ever since. Those several days had been full of tracking and chasing, trying to bring down prey to regain their strength after suffering through such a storm. It had taken some time for the two wary wolves, but between both of their power and skill they were finally able to catch a young deer. Shenandoah hadn’t had many hunting partners in her life, but she found working with Enzo to be the best of all. And it was easy to imagine why. He was her uncle. He’s like my dad. Shenandoah would never get to hunt with her father. But Renier’s brother was the next best thing, and better than she ever thought she’d get.
After they had gorged themselves they finally settled in for a night of well deserved rest and relaxation, enjoying the afternoon sun as they laid on a large rock sun-soaked from a long day in the open. Shenandoah had long caught
