In her fairy tale adventures, Lapis Lazuli is pulled out from the rain and mud after a horrific carriage crash just outside a castle where a kind prince (Jamie) lives. After being bathed and dressed in warm dry clothes, Lapis is treated to dinner with the prince and his mother (Yellow Diamond,) a selfish queen. The queen notices that his son and the girl getting close and fears that the prince may consider marrying Lapis and she would have to give up her crown. The conniving ruler says that only a true princess can marry her son and Lapis must be tested to prove that she is. So after stacking up 20 mattresses and feather beds, the queen places an uncooked pea at the very bottom and if the girl could feel it; it would mean that she's a real princess. But, Lapis is smarter than the queen knows.
