One for each wife. . . And they could look out at the street but couldn't be seen . . . Not much has changed!

That is the essential problem of Islam; it is not progressive enough.Β  No faith can survive if it doesn't grow; rigid and repressive dogmas always eat themselves up in the end.

Yes indeed . . .Β  Christian churches are pretty slow on the uptake too!

Some more (and less) than others! Β  But isn't it true that the coreΒ message of Christianity is forgiveness and redemption?Β  What is the coreΒ message of Islam? That the sole purpose of existence is to worship God. I do not believe that God wants slavish worshipers, otherwise free will would not exist.

That core Christian message has often been, and is still often, ignored - alas. Hard line, moralistic, legalistic, judgemental.

It's easier to set up a system of strict rules / laws than allow people to act according to conscience - and maybe such freedom, and its inherent responsibilities, scares most people. Just tell me what I can and can't do.

That's true; some people respond better to a structured lifestyle--"In obedience I am free"--while others instinctively rebel against a regimented society.Β  It's a great anomaly that human nature embraces diametric opposites.

My own motto is "I am as God made me!"

If I was to espouse that motto I might be pretty critical of my maker! Surely he / she could have done a better job!

My baldness is hardly unique! It's a rather overused cosmic joke

At least you traveled through Greece without sharing the fate of Aeschylus; I heard that an eagle mistook his bald head for a rock and dropped a tortoise on it.
