How in the world do you manage to catch such smooth detail with colored pencil? I've never been able to produce an effect like that, it's so crisp! What's your strategy?

This is glorious, and I like the theme -- I've always felt it was horribly unfair of the gods to bind Fenris just because he was big and strong. *pets him*

Its not that bad for being a background picture, but you should add a hugest gama of colors and patters. :3
Jose Ma. Velasco inspires me to do backgrounds, why donΒ΄t you give him a try and search for some of hiis artworks, perhaps he inspires you as well and so you lose your fear for backgrounding ^^

Thanks for the tips! Though backgrounds aren't merely intimidating to me... at this point it is just not time efficient to do them. This picture took me days. I gotta go and hurry to catch up with the next orders on my commission list now.
