Description A sketch I did of a tiger. The really special thing about this picture is that it actually has a background! I almost never take the time to come up with any let alone do them. Picture done with crayola pencils.

this is very good but in this pic if you had lifted both of the back legs up the running pose would be more convincing. everything else is perfect.

Ooh, lovely! I love the colours in this, especially since the background actually makes the colours more vibrant than if it had been on a plain white background. This reminds me of a chinese painting or something ^^

The only thing I can nitpick is that the pose looks a little bit weird (but somebody already mentioned that - just that fact that his front paws make him look stationary, but the back ones show that he's running. But I'm being a bit of a hyprocrite, I've done the same thing too many times before xD). That's all though, otherwise - beautiful!

Yeah, I agree on the nose thing. The tiger originally started as a "just for fun" sketch. That's the main reason I wasn't afraid to get experimental with a background. I honestly need to take my artwork a little less seriously and have a bit more fun with it. I'm sure I'll learn more if I refrain from being such a perfectionist.

Good. I could never draw a tiger. /:

The only thing I can add to everything that's been said is something about the tail.

The tail appears to be much closer to the person viewing the tiger than the tiger is himself.. you could have prevented such by not making the tail's end.. "floofy" [for some reason, I think bobcat when I see the tail]. You know what I mean? They're pretty much the same size the whole way through, to my knowledge.

Other than that, great job. :}

Meh, I know, floofly tails are part of my style, though recently I've found just how much cat's tails taper at the end, and I've done a few like that. But old habits die hard, plus I kind of like floofly tails so...there'll probably be at least several more floofly tailed kitties before I go all thin and tapered.

I wish I had that much talent with colored pencils. I hardly ever do backgrounds because mine are bad and ruin my pictures, but yours is great! I also love the tiger's running pose.

Wish I could do that with coloured pencils. o-o If I had mine here, I would so try to get in some practice right now.

One of my favorite tricks with colored pencils is, once I have the picture done, I go over it with a white pencil or a different pencil of a really light color. This seems to bring out some hidden warmth that I couldn't see in the colors before and also adds to the smooth effect. I also use the little blending sticks which work pretty well too, although sometimes its the pencil over pencil that works the best. I found a really good Prisma that, when blended in with the colors in the right pictures, produces a really cool color. It's called Cloud Blue and it's reeally light when used alone. Believe it or not, I actually used this color in my new wolfs' pelt colors.

Wow. Thanks. I'll be sure to use that tip. Mine always turned out so rough, so I'm glad to know there's a trick to it. I have a few blenders, but they never work well on coloured pencil for me.

I really like how you drew in the tiger patterns and how you colored the tiger and the background. However, the tiger seems unbalanced. At first I thought the tiger was walking, but the front paws are in a standing position. But to be standing on three paws with the front two so close together would make this tiger on the verge of falling over. Just something to consider.

I like to draw big tails...if it was a wolf he'd have a big floofy one!
