Description A study of horse chestnuts. I loved painting these with all the contrasts of light and dark, smooth and spiky.

Original is 10x14 inches in watercolour on 140 lb paper

I've always loved botanicla art work, but not all of it- yours is imbued with that certain something that typifies the kind of botanical art work that I do love!

I'm doing a course in botanical illustration at the moment so there'll be a lot more of this kind of thing to come and I'm working on a book (of sorts) called 'Herbarium Intermundia' which, if I've got my latin right is the Botany of the Spaces Between Worlds - it's sort of what might happen if a botanist or two found their way into Faeryland

That's exactly the mind set I have for my own "discovery" that I refer to as the Hedge! Great minds think alike, eh? I can't wait to see more of these illustrations!
