its actually kinda lame but awesome non the less. Because Virgil hanged out with richie the morning after, richie got a whiff of the gas. But because its a small amount, instead of mutating him immediately he was dormant until season 3 where the gas finally took effect making him smart enough that braniac saw him as the greatest threat compared to the justice league. . . sorry for the fanboy lenght
