I’ve been a fan of the Gorillaz for a little while now and I’m especially in love with Jamie Hewlett’s work (swoons over his amazing designs and animation). Also, after hearing the resent news about the new album I decided to draw the band members. Next up is good old Russel Hobbs !!

Russel provides the drums and other percussions for the band. To me Russle comes off as a strong silent type who is very intellectual and very well mannered. However, like his other band members, he has a very interesting back story. I won’t go into much detail (believe it it’s a long story), but let’s just say Russel has some major demons to deal with. Russel is one of my favorite members from Gorillaz and I think he deserves more recondition in the future (fingers crossed).

I decided to use Russel’s phase three design for my drawing and I used black pen and digital colouring as my mediums. The reference photo I used was of Russel from the video Broken (where he emerges from the ocean with Noodle in the palm of his hand). I hope you like my drawing !!!
Up next will be Murdoc (if I can ever get his nose right) and then 2D So stay tuned
