That one look so cool
Despite it look Katafrakts are small creatures. They are opportunist. They can eat almost anything from plants to meet, they will not miss any opportunity to eat. Because they are small and slow creature they have those armors to protects themself. When they feel treathen they hide theirs heads, they can close this shell up too when it is need. Not only their torso are covered by armor. Their legs are covere by very hard skin, so it is almost impossible to any predator to bite throught it. The only one exception isΒ when an individuall is coveredΒ by parasite mites, wich made its skin weak.Β
Those creatures are slow but still they can travel long distance. Looking for new opportunity they can travel through greats plains, forest and small deserts. They can even swim small rivers. Because they have heavy armors on their body they are not good swimers and they can drown when the river is to big or during the flood.
Their bigest enemies are not predators but small skin parasites. A lots of mites, ticks and others little creatures often lives in Katafraks skin, made they host weak and ill. They may also be cause of his death.Β

Katafrakts are apprehensive by nature. Although they have no predators, they have evolved in a manner that suggests that they believe themselves to be surrounded by predators. "It's going to eat me! It's going to eat me!" Yipes.

The Katafrakt wanders the steppes tucked safely away in its keratinous shell, constantly paranoid that someone, somewhere is going to throw it a party.Β (Ptomatons throw terrible parties.Β The guests risk becoming the hors d'oeuvres.)

The Katafrakt lives its life in peace, secure in the knowledge that the dreaded Trogon ptomaton or corpse eater will only show interest if it is itself starving. There is, after all, easier prey most anywhere. The ptomaton is a sort of giant hyena, which has the tooth and jaw power to break the Katafrakt's shell, although it will hunt almost anything else.
