OK I said I reconstructed Urmiatherium, and here it is! Urmiatherium polaki lived about 8-7 million years ago, the late Miocene, in Central Asia. It had rather strange horns: the horn cores are large and span the whole width of the skull and the length of the back part of the skull. I'm reconstructing the female here with somewhat smaller horns, as is usual in the goat-and-sheep subfamily, the Caprinae. While Urmiatherium was likely a member of that subfamily, its relationships haven't been determined any more closely than that, though it's often considered as being related to the Musk Ox, Ovibos moschatus. It's one of numerous strange, Asian 'Ovibovines'.
