deunan and briarios from the appleseed anime/manga... uhm... workin' on it.started on this a few weeks ago... haven't really touched it since then.
i kinda tried to find a happy medium on deunan's design from the manga to the first anime to the most recent one. a little bit of the same for briarios. referenced/homaged from an old arthur adams cover art piece here: [link]

neal adams on masunume shirow's designs always looked a little off to me too... but there was something about them i liked.
and true... that most recent movie was a bit out there, but still it was pretty darn good. or at least pretty. XD

amazing! (adds to favorites) love appleseed! iam actually working on the head for briareos so i can cosplay him in a tuxedo from appleseed: exmachina... eventually... getting stuff to stick to a DOT-5 rated helmet is kinda hard...

Niiiiice! I'm trying to get a good picture of APPLESEED 2 to draw from. The thing i always get wrong are the feet ^-^" I wanna go to art school so bad T_T I can only draw manga/anime. I'd give this drawing 10/5 ^_^

Appleseed is great, the remake had some amazing visuals....
You've done a really good job with the characters and the destroyed buildings really set the tone.
I have real problems with putting characters in a setting.....great stuff!

Appleseed is one of my favorite series and Bri and Deunan are probably my favorite couple, haha. This is so damn well done, dude. Awesome job on Briareos and his sweet gun. The size relation of him to Deunan is perfect too. Good choice of backgrounds [using the badlands and what not. Suits them better.]
There's such a lack of Appleseed fanart on the net, it's nice to see some more work of it, and from such a great artist no less. Thanks for this. : )

i pretty much grab anything by shirow. though i don't do enough fanart for his stuff. anywho... duenan was kinda fun... i tried merging her designs from the original anime, the new one, and the manga. i might add a few things in the final versin.

I'm a huge fan a' Shirow too. I'm probably behind the times on this too, but in case you havn't heard, Amazon.com has pre-sales going right now for Appleseed: Hypernotes and ID. Hypernotes is supposed to have some of the pages from a [so far non-existant]Book 5 in the series. : D

cool sketch man.
on thing that sticks out to me though is deunan's right leg and briarios' right leg are positioned a little oddly. in relation to the background, briarios's leg is in front of deunans. so it looks like her leg is in between briarios'. but briarios's left leg is also in front of her right leg in relation to the background, so it almost looks like they're occupying the same space at the same time. if you know what i mean. or it's like briarios is stradling deunan's thigh.

yep yep. i see it. easiest fix i guess would be to change briarios's left leg and deunan's right... or just separate them a little more by moving their bodies away from each other. looking at it like that now, briarios would be bonking deunan on the head with that gigantic gun of his. XD

There really isn't much Appleseed fanart out there, which is surprising since it's such an awesome franchise. And, honestly, the designs really lend themselves well to your style ^_^

I also noticed the variations between the early Deunan and the later one but I think this one is fine as it is.Graet job on Briarios and the background too.
