I was planning on posting this on the 21st (which is Princess Daisy's and Super Mario Land's 33rd Anniversary), but some complications occurred, but now I'm happy that I'm finally posting this. Here's to 33 years of everyone's favorite energetic flower Princess! 🌼

Aladdin is one of my favorite childhood movies, I love the songs, animation, characters, and Genie and Iago are super hilarious characters. Super Mario Land is also one of my favorite Mario games, and I personally feel like it's often seen as the black sheep of the Mario platformers. It's not perfect by any means, but I think it's super underappreciated.

But both Aladdin and Super Mario Land's leading ladies, Princess Daisy and Princess Jasmine are some of my favorite Princess characters. I just love how strong willed and confident these two ladies are when compared to other female characters that came before them. Not to say that the previous female characters before them are bad, I just think that Daisy and Jasmine were steps in the right direction.

Plus, these two are really quite similar when you think about it. I often see Daisy dressed up as Belle, but I honestly think she has much more in common with Jasmine.

The both of them are named after flowers, they're both Princesses of a fictional Middle Eastern inspired Kingdom, their love interests aren't royalty (yes, Aladdin disguised himself as Prince Ali, but it was just magic, and he wasn't actual royalty), they've both been kidnapped by their main villains and were almost married off to them, and they're both sassy, feisty, adventurous, and headstrong young women. This also might be a bit of an insignificant fact, but I also noticed that the two also seem to often have their hands resting on their hips, reflecting their personalities in some of their official art.

As for the drawing, I decided to choose to draw tanned Daisy (because that's literally the best version of her, no cap 🧢), and at first, I wasn't sure if I should leave Daisy's hair down, or give her Jasmine's signature ponytail, and I eventually decided to do the latter.
