Oh hey, I forgot that this whole thing existed lol

I was initially going to post this on Valentine’s Day, but since I have the memory of Dory, I forgot all about it until now. But it’s still February, so even though Valentine’s Day is over, the month of love is still upon us until next Tuesday 😀

I’ve done a list similar to this recently, but it was about my favorite Disney Princess couples, so here’s a video game version of it. There are some video game couples I really like, but the characters featured on this list are kinda special to me. I just have a lot of fondness for these couples, and they bring a lot of comfort to me whenever I draw them, see videos or even fanart of them.

Before reading my list, keep in mind that these are my opinions, so if anyone comments something like, “Where’s Cloud and Tifa”, or, “You forgot Link and Zelda”, then I’ll just tell you that I have no opinions on either of these couples because I honestly don’t care about Legend Of Zelda or Final Fantasy. I betcha they’re probably great games, but I don’t have much interest in either of them lol

Also, please be respectful of my opinions. You don’t have to agree with my list, but don’t trash it, or leave rude, hateful or negative comments, because that is super immature and embarrassing. February is a month celebrating love and friendship, so please don’t be toxic over video game couples ^w^

And with that outta the way, let's get this list started!

Number 6. Boyfriend and Girlfriend

These two are just straight-up adorable. Boyfriend is just a blue-haired midget dude who’s just rap battling any person he meets in either to get with Girlfriend. Whether it be her dad, her ex, or his psycho fangirl, nothing will stop him from winning his bae’s heart. And even though her dad clearly disapproves of her relationship with Boyfriend, Girlfriend couldn’t care less. She’s still seen hanging around him, showing a somewhat rebellious side of her. Girlfriend even has a cute animated pose where she hugs Boyfriend while she’s being carried by him.

While these two may not have a whole lot of unique things that make them stand out from the rest, it still shows that they’re not letting anything stop them from lovin’ each other, and that’s why they’re Number 6. Plus, I really like how their blue and red theme colors complement each other :3

Number 5. Crash and Tawna

Crash and Tawna are sorta like a Bandicoot version of Mario and Peach. Crash has to rescue Tawna from the clutches of Cortex in order to prevent her from being brainwashed. Even though these two aren’t shown having too much time together (or in future games for that matter since Tawna had to be removed from the series because of her provocative appearance), they do show signs of caring about each other. Heck, the whole objective of the game is to rescue Tawna. Crash clearly has a lot of determination to save her from some kind of doom by traveling through the Wumpa Islands. And Tawna is more than just a damsel in distress. She didn’t have too much to do, but at the very least in N. Sane Trilogy, she’s shown to be more proactive by fending off the Lab Assistants while being held captive in Cortex’s castle. The two are even shown sharing a hug with each other at the end of the game.

And while an alternate universe version of Tawna appears in Crash 4 instead of regular Tawna, Tawna is still shown to be on good terms with Crash, and cares a whole lot for him, albeit not in a romantic way. And to the people out there who ship Crash with Pasadena or Tawna with Pinstripe, while I can see why you guys ship them, and I respect your opinions, but Crash and Tawna will always be my most favorite Crash couple, and that’s why they’re Number 5.

Number 4. Diddy and Dixie

Not only do these two make such a cute couple, but they also kick a lot of Kremling ass. Like Tawna and Crash, their romantic relationship may not be touched upon a lot in the games (ironically, it’s explored more in the DK Cartoon, but I’m even going to be talking about it because why would I even 💀), but ever since Dixie made her debut in DKC2, she’s accompanied him on a few adventures of his. The two of them work together to save DK in the second game, and in the third game, Dixie has to save not just DK, but Diddy as well. They also share good chemistry with each other in Superstar Baseball and Super Sluggers.

These two look out for each other and both of them have their own unique set of skills that help them traverse through any sort of danger that comes their way. They also work so well together without having one of them upstaging the other. That’s why they’re Number 4.

Number 3. Conker and Berri

We’re at the top 3 spots on the list, and we’re now onto… probably the most depressing entry on this list.

Things haven’t been the same for these two like in the old Pocket Tales days. Their relationship wasn’t as wholesome and cutesy as it used to be because of Conker’s alcoholism, and his relationship with Berri can only be described as a rollercoaster ride. And as I’ve mentioned on my Berri Gijinka post, these two still care for each other deep down.

Yes, Conker did at one point somewhat show an interest in other women like Jugga in the game, but in reality… he just wanted to be with Berri. That was literally his motive in the game, and that’s one of the things that I really like about Conker himself because he differs from a lot of other famous video game characters like Mario and Sonic. He’s not on some sort of quest to save a princess, or foil the Panther King’s plans, he literally just wanted to get back home to Berri's house (and of course have a few beers or two). He also still has a good heart, because while in the Rock Solid Club, he freed Berri from the cage she was being held captive in. As for Berri, while she does get frustrated with Conker’s antics, she cares for his well-being as well. She still refers to him as her boyfriend, she still calls him affectionate nicknames like, “Conker Honey”, and is even seen protecting him and even sacrificing herself to prevent her boyfriend from being turned into a table leg.

The icing on the cake is the Heist Chapter, which is what truly made these two shine. They’re shown working together, with no arguing whatsoever, like looking hella badass at the same time 😎

While Berri was sadly fatally shot by Don Weaso, Conker still manages to avenge his bae by opening the airlock, which sent (at least presumably) Weaso, and Kriplespac and proceeds to finish the job by killing Kriplespac’s pet Xenomorph, Heinrich.

All of this evidence shows that they’re willing to save each other’s skins no matter what the cost is, and that their love for each other still remained before and after Berri died. It also shows that Conker is more than just a greedy alcoholic, and Berri is more than just eye candy and a valley girl stereotype, and that’s why these two are Number 3.

Number 2. Mario and Peach

Aah, the ever so iconic couple that is Mario and Princess Peach. These two are also a childhood favorite of mine 🥰

While this may be the typical, “knight and shining armor (or should I say overalls), and frail and helpless damsel in distress”, type of couple, they have a lot more than what meets the eye.

These two have been super close with each other ever since they were infants, and it’s definitely no secret that Mario has been going through so many types of levels in order to rescue Peach since 1985. Whether it be grasslands, jungles, beaches, or even volcanoes, Mario will stop at nothing to make sure that Peach is safe and sound. Even though Peach was shown to be frustrated at not just Bowser, but also Mario in the controversial ending to Super Mario Odyssey, she manages to calm down and suggests that the three of them should go back home. Plus, the post-game shows that she forgave him afterwards, and they’re still shown to be on very good terms with each other.

Peach has been shown to reward Mario with kisses, and cakes, and even sneaks in a few 1-UPs in the letters she sends him in Super Mario Galaxy. Not to mention that Peach starred in her own game where it was her turn to rescue him from Bowser. And at the end of the game, the two reunite with each other by running toward each other and embracing each other, happy to see that they’re reunited with each other once again with no harm done to either of them.

Mario and Peach may be the de-facto video game couple, and their relationship may be a bit of a confusing mess, they are willing to go through so many things for each other, and they seem to be a lovely, healthy couple, and that’s why they’re Number 2.

Well, seems that we’re almost finished with this list.

Though if you’ve noticed, we haven’t gotten to Number 1 yet. But who might be at Number 1, you ask?

This probably shouldn’t be a surprise, but the lucky couple who managed to get to Number 1 is…

*Drum Roll Intensifies*

Number 1. Luigi and Daisy

While I love me some Mario and Peach, I do enjoy myself some Luigi and Daisy just a teensy bit more.

Say what you people want about these two, but I just love them way too much. I’m a huge sucker for the “opposites attract” trope, and Luigi and Daisy are the perfect example of that trope.

Luigi is very timid and meek, while Daisy is spunky and boisterous, but even if they don’t have similar personality traits, they still manage to connect with each other. And like Mario and Peach, they’ve been close since they were babies. Luigi admires how loud and proud she is, and that’s probably the reason why he’s so smitten with her. I especially love Daisy’s victory scene in Mario Power Tennis where Luigi is just in awe at Daisy’s skating skills. She even calls Luigi, “sweetie” during the cutscene, which is an adorable detail that Nintendo and Camelot left in.

There’s also the famous giant, golden statue in Mario Kart Wii, and a baby version of their statue. And in Mario Tennis Aces, after the cutscene where Luigi, Waluigi, and Wario disappear after the powerful tennis racket, Lucien, possesses the three of them, Daisy tells Mario, “Please…just bring Luigi back safely!”. That right here shows that Daisy perishes the thought of anything terrible happening to her green sweetheart, and shows a lot of concern for Luigi’s safety.

Though there have been times when Daisy was a liiiitle bit harsh on him like in Fortune Street, she obviously meant no ill will with what she was saying and probably got her head in the game a little too much lmao

Luigi and Daisy also have a more fun dynamic and relationship when compared to Mario and Peach. Don’t get me wrong, I will always love Mareach, but… Luaisy speaks a lot more to me. Despite that one is quiet and the other is outgoing, these two are willing to look past their opposing personalities, and still manage to be an entertaining, and fun-loving couple, and that’s why they’re Number 1.
